searching / for a garden

Virtual reality / video project with two different perspectives that inherently exclude each other. One is an inside perspective from within the virtual reality in which a perpetual search for a garden - or a refuge takes place. It represents a longing that can never be fulfilled. Once one comes closer to this virtual garden the progress vanishes and the garden is far off in the distance once again.

The other perspective is an outside one, a video projection right on top of the VR user. Hands reach out for the one inside the virtual reality, trying to reach for them but never being able to since they are trapped in their endless search. The longing can never be fulfilled, people on the outside cannot see or be part of the virtual world and the one who is inside of the virtual reality search cannot see the outside world reaching out. Both parties are forced into seperation from each other. The idea of a graveyard as a garden is evoked - a graveyard being a space of seperation, an in-between border between living and dead.

The only connecting element are ghostly voices that underline the underlying disconnection by calling out different directions with no goal.
